Reggie Smith: Tricks, Lies and Videotape

Don’t believe everything you see on Facebook or on Fox News from politicians. The Texas House HD62 incumbent has released a series of negative campaign ads designed to paint Shelley Luther in a false light. These tricks and lies are intentionally deceptive.

Shelley Luther is the most conservative candidate in this race, and Reggie must believe that his only chance to win at this point is to lie and slander his opponent. He’s counting on enough people believing him without verifying the information for themselves.

The First Video Ad: Outright Lies

In the initial video ad, Reggie states that Shelley Luther has never voted Republican in her life, and her first Republican vote will be for herself in this election.

“She’s never cast a single Republican vote, here or anywhere else, not one, not for President Trump, not for Senator Cruz. In fact, her first Republican vote will be for herself.”

But clearly the public records show she voted in the Republican Primary in 2020, and additionally she voted in the general election in 2020, 2018 and 2016 and more. Here is Shelley’s voting history record which is publicly available from the Denton County Elections Administration.

She has stated that she wasn’t very involved in politics until she was thrust into it when she was arrested for refusing to close her salon, but she has also stated publicly that she voted for Trump. In fact, this claim she didn’t vote for Trump was first made by her then-rival Drew Springer, which she refuted two years ago.

The incumbent has no basis to make the claim Mrs. Luther didn’t vote for Trump because her actual vote remains a secret, as does every vote in the general or primary elections. For the incumbent to make these claims is a bald-faced lie. It’s dishonest campaigning. It’s unethical.

So, we provided the voting record and challenged Reggie on the matter.

The Second Video Ad: Intentional Deception

Instead of pulling the ad and apologizing for lying, Reggie modified the ad and doubled down on deception. After changing the ad, here is how he responded to our inquiry:

Reggie is literally trying to pull off a bait-and-switch with the voters. Here is the original ad (link to video) that says “never cast a single Republican vote“:

Here is the modified ad (link to video) which is changed to say “never cast a March Republican primary vote“:

Did you catch the difference? The first one is a provable lie, the second one segments down to a statement that most voters would find wholly uninteresting.

And make no mistake about it, this switch-a-roo shows an intent by the Reggie Smith campaign to deceive voters. It took time and money to re-record the audio and make new video graphics.

Is this who you want representing you? Someone with so little integrity that he would flat-out lie about his opponent and hope to get away with it?

Someone that gets caught in an outright lie then tries to cover it up with more lies and deception. Is that who the people of Grayson want as a representative?

Character matters.

If you want a true conservative fighter for HD-62, one with character and integrity, then vote Shelley Luther.

  1. It has become more apparent, Reggie’s lies in order to stay in power. He will say and do anything about anyone that stands in his way. Don’t send a lier back to Austin to continue deceiving Texans. Vote for my friend Shelley Luther, a voice of truth for all of Texas.

  2. Reggie is no different than Jerry, I mean Drew Springer. A liar and Abbott’s “yes” man. His servile puppy. I certainly don’t want a liar representing me regardless of the office. Our former president (Trump) has been verified to have lied over 30,000 times while in office that’s a hard “no” for me too. Of course I’m an Independent, I don’t belong to, owe any loyalty or fealty to ANY party or candidate. I only owe loyalty and allegiance to my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. Who, the last time I checked, doesn’t support liars either.
