Why did GCC endorse Pam Little? And why so late?

GCC was admittedly late in endorsing in the race for Texas SBOE, District 12. A number of factors have been at play recently that delayed our decision. However, a couple important discoveries in the last few days and weeks led to our endorsement of Pam Little.

Pam was Impressive

First of all, Pam is an excellent candidate. We interviewed both Jamie and Pam and we felt that Pam had a supreme grasp on the job. Her conservative convictions were apparent with regards to school choice, vaccine mandates, charter schools, protecting student data and on-campus security. We interviewed her with the intention of considering a “recommendation,” but she was stellar across the board, so we unanimously chose to “endorse” her instead.

Jamie is a mismatch for GCC

There were two major issues with Jamie that became apparent to us in the last weeks which led to our last-minute endorsement in this race.

The short story is Jamie is not an appropriate candidate for Grayson County Conservatives. She has a significant conflict in her position with one of our most valued and fundamental issues, which is medical freedom. We do not support vaccine mandates of any kind—Jamie does.

She also has undeniable funding ties to TLR through Dick Weekley and his organizations. This money trail is significant and obvious, and it represents a little more than $300,000 of her $526,000 campaign funds reported. We are leery of candidates that are heavily funded by special interests counter to the GCC conservative mission.

Jamie Supports Private Vaccine Mandates

We became aware that Jamie answered in a recent iVoter questionnaire that “private schools should be allowed to require vaccinations if they choose.” She continues to stand behind this position.

Pam believes that “Vaccine Mandates Infringe”

In stark contrast, Pam’s stated position is “vaccine mandates infringe upon individual freedoms and parental rights”. This is consistent with GCC’s position.

Pam’s Position is Consistent with Leading Conservatives

Since COVID tyranny took hold, conservative leaders like Bob Hall, Brian Harrison and Andy Hopper (backed by many others) have consistently held a position that neither private nor public institutions should be allowed to force vaccines, and that by doing so they are in violation of a person’s inalienable rights. Pam’s position is consistent with this principled position—Jamie’s is not.

Jamie has direct and large Ties to Dick Weekley/TLR

We have known for some time that Jamie received $50,000 from Dick Weekley of Texans for Lawsuit Reform (TLR) early in her campaign. We considered this a red flag that kept us from seriously considering endorsing her.

On May 22, her latest report became public, and it was shown that Jamie has to date received $150,000 in donations from Dick Weekley, and another $50,000 and $107,568 from organizations directly associated with him, and thus TLR.

According to this latest report, roughly 59% of Jamie’s campaign war chest comes from Dick Weekley/TLR organizations. This is very concerning.

Who is Dick Weekley? And who is TLR?

The short answer is that Richard (Dick) Weekley IS Texans for Lawsuit Reform (TLR). He is the primary donor of multiple millions and is currently Senior Chairman of the organization. TLR is infamous for supporting RINOs, installing Democrat chairs, and organizing the bogus Paxton impeachment.

Pam is funded from the bottom up

On the other hand, Pam’s financial report shows a candidate that has received hundreds of small donations from people across the 12 counties that she currently serves.

The Grayson County Conservatives Endorsement

GCC vetted both candidates over a 2–3-month period where we closely watched and considered the information that was released by each campaign. We interviewed both candidates asking questions about goals, accomplishments, funding and their opinions on important SBOE-related topics.

Ultimately, we unanimously voted to endorse Pam Little.

Please note that this is not a complete analysis of all the issues in this very complicated race. It represents new and significant concerns that led to our heightened interest in this race in the last few days and weeks.
