Please Stop Feeding the Grayson RINOs

Grayson County is one of the most conservative counties in Texas. In contrast, many of our elected representatives only speak of conservative principles during election season and once elected do not walk the walk. We see this lack of conservative action being used against the people of Grayson county at all official levels; for example:

  • In the 2021 Texas legislative session, Reggie Smith voted for Democrat committee chairs, he voted against transparency in Austin and, he voted to make voter fraud a misdemeanor, making it no longer a felony.
  • Acting in official capacity, Bill Magers sets himself up for personal gain through land deals.
  • As President of the school board, Hillary Clark passionately fought to mandate masks on school children in Sherman ISD against the wishes of the community and against an EO making mask mandates illegal.

Fortunately, there is a solution that can be found by voting on Tuesday, March 1 in the Republican primary. We need new trustworthy public servants to help Republican voters maintain their confidence in conservatism while continuing to work toward a truly red county. Shelley Luther, Dan Thomas, Bruce Dawsey, Vanessa Vice and Christina Fox are all solid conservative candidates that have run truly honest and ethical campaigns. With one day left, the rest is up to the voters, but don’t be deceived by establishment tricks.

Locally, “Keep Grayson Red” is the rally cry of Republicans that are satisfied with the status quo. They are satisfied with sub-par elected representatives that do not champion conservative values. The reality is that Grayson’s elected officials really aren’t that red; they are an ugly shade of purple where too many liberal ideas are in play. The Republican primary is the time and place to go into the polls educated and intent on “Turning Grayson Red” by voting for actual conservatives, not pretenders.

“Unity” within the Republican party is another misguided goal of establishment Grayson Republicans. Right now is the time for true conservatives to challenge these candidates that only give lip service to the Republican priorities. There is no chance that Grayson will elect a Democrat as only one race even has a D challenger. In other words, the Republican primary winner will win the general election by default.

Further, this campaign season has seen many of Grayson’s incumbents resorting to lies and deceptions. Unifying behind candidates that are using lies about their opponents to hide their lack of conservative record or own personal issues is not a virtue; it’s participating in the lie. While the challengers that GCC has endorsed have run campaigns based solely on the issues, we have seen a lack of integrity from incumbents, such as:

  • Reggie Smith has lied about Shelley Luther’s voting record. Proven false.
  • Reggie has sent flyer after flyer full of lies on various topics. LIES.
  • Behind the scenes, Reggie is involved in a whisper campaign that attacks Shelley personally with lies.
  • Bill Magers has lied about Bruce Dawsey’s voting record. Proven false.

For those that expect a higher level of integrity than the establishment offers and for those that believe Grayson county should move the Overton window to the right and stand up for conservative principles, please consider voting for Grayson County Conservatives’ local priorities:

  • Shelley Luther, Texas House District 62
  • Dan Thomas, Congressional District 4
  • Bruce Dawsey, County Judge
  • Vanessa Vice, Judge County Court and Law #2
  • Christina Fox, Justice of the Peace Precinct 4

Here is GCC’s printable voter guide. You may print this and take it into the polls with you, but you will not be allowed to view it on your phone while voting.
